Fit for your MA: Library Orientation and Research Workshop for New MA Students

If you are starting an Anglophone Literatures and Cultures MA or an English Language and Linguistics MA at Vienna University and would like to learn more about the library facilities and database resources at hand and meet fellow MA students, this is the workshop for you:

  • Finding scholarly literature: Library catalogue, u:search, bibliographic and full-text databases, what is available?
  • Doing research from home: Using VPN to make sure you can access quality information
  • Making the most of the library infrastructure here in Vienna: What libraries will be useful to you?
  • Guided tour of the English and American Studies Library*

The workshop will take place on Friday October 14th at 14:15 in the English Department's computer lab, and will be preceeded by a Welcome Session by the English Department from 12:00 and a coffee-break from about 13:45, which should allow for an informal get-together with student representatives, teachers, fellow M.A. students and the librarian.

Since there are only about 16 places for the workshop, we would ask you to register by sending an e-mail to the librarian (Karin Lach) until Thursday, October 13th. Should there be free places, these will be allocated on the day.

*Should you wish to get a library card, please bring along your proof of resididence (Meldenachweis) and your student card. Thanks.
