About Us

The German, Dutch and Scandinavian Studies Library is one of the special libraries of the University of Vienna and holds the following collections:

  • German and Austrian literature from its beginnings to the present day
  • General and German literary studies
  • German linguistics
  • Onomastics and dialectology
  • German as a foreign and second language
  • Nordic languages and literatures (Scandinavian studies)
  • Dutch linguistics and literary studies (Dutch studies)

Holdings

  • About 170,000 items
  • About 150 periodicals subscriptions (print and electronic)

This special library primarily aims at supporting academic university staff and students of the Department of German Studies and of the Dutch Studies and Scandinavian Studies divisions of the Department of European and Comparative Literature and Language Studies, as well as at acquiring and providing relevant literature for the areas of studying, research and teaching.
