Using the Library

The Classical Philology, Medieval and Neolatin Library is mostly an open-shelf library where the majority of the items may be borrowed. You need a valid library card to borrow items. The loan period is 28 days.

Items that may only be used at the library: periodicals, lexicons, translations, textbooks, important standard works

Please note: Works on Medieval Latin literature (shelf marks "Mittellatein Autoren A-Z” as well as "Mittellatein Monographien A-Z") and Neolatin literature (shelf marks "Neulatein Autoren A-Z" as well as "Neulatein Monographien A-Z", "Neulatein Lexika" and "Zeitschriften Neulatein") have to be kept in closed stacks due to lack of space. If you want to use books kept in the closed stacks, please consult the employee at the information desk who will collect the books from the stacks for you. Most of the medieval Latin lexicons are available in the open-shelf area.

A copier is available at the library.

Ordering books with accessibility in mind:
We offer an additional service for users with physical disabilities. All books and media from the open access area can be ordered at the information desk and be viewed or borrowed there.
