The lending department issues library cards and houses the issue desk where you can collect the books that you have ordered for use outside the library. It can be found in the main university building on the first floor, accessible via staircases nos. 2, 8, 10 or 12.
A library card is required to borrow books.
To borrow a book from the library, you first need to place an online order via u:search. You can order up to 10 volumes per day.
During the semester, orders are usually processed at 7:00am and 2:00pm. If you order before these times, you can usually collect your books on the same day, about 4 hours after the order has been processed. Books are collected from the issue desk in the lending department ("Entlehnung")
If you order a book that is currently on loan, a reservation will be made for you and you will be notified via e-mail as soon as the book has been returned.
You can keep a borrowed book for up to four weeks. It is possible to extend the loan for another four weeks if no other reader has placed a reservation. You can borrow up to 50 volumes simultaneously.
Books must be returned to the return counter, which is also located in the lending department.
