Academic Showcases

This richly illustrated volume for the first time provides an overview of the many academic collections, the variety of which reflects the centuries of history and copious research activity at the University of Vienna in a unique way. The texts, authored by the specialists in the respective collections, provide information on the history, scope, status and function of the collections, which not only contain objects of high educational and academic value, but also form part of the national cultural heritage. Their range extends from conventional educational and research collections, historical collections, and collections of slides, photographs and films, to personal papers and archives, the Herbarium, the plant collections in the Botanical Garden and the Observatory Museum.
