The requirements for the management of research data during and after research projects are increasing. From the planning of a project, to the analysis of collected data, to the sharing of results through different channels, researchers have different tools, systems and services (at the University of Vienna) at their disposal to manage data according to good scientific practice. This workshop provides an overview of the relevant aspects of Research Data Management and addresses best practices as well as participant-oriented examples along the research data life cycle.
The workshop gives a general introduction to the concepts of Research Data Management, Open Science and the FAIR principles and is divided into the sections of the research data life cycle: Planning: data management plans, file naming, folder structures, README files; Collection: backups, file formats; Preparation/Analysis: data storage and processing, data sharing; Archiving: repositories, metadata for research data, licences, persistent identifiers; Publishing: Data Journals; Reuse: FAIR principles, Open Science, search strategies
