Using the Library

The East European History and Slavonic Studies Library is a public library, which is not only open to university members. Besides academic subject-specific information, it also provides the opportunity to gain comprehensive information about the history of East European societies.

The Vienna University Library regulations apply. You can find lockers in the Library’s entrance area. Please leave your coats, jackets, etc. in a locker. You can borrow a locker key by presenting your library card or depositing a photo ID card. Please note that you are obliged to leave your belongings in the cloakroom.

The East European History and Slavonic Studies Library is located in courtyard 5 at the Campus of the University of Vienna.

There are 52 study spaces at the Library. You can also connect to the Wi-Fi at the Library. We offer five research workstations as well as the old card catalogues which you can use for bibliographical research. The computers offer the following functions: free use of the Internet (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Chrome), use of Open Office as well as storing research results and data on flash drives.

You can find a u:print device at the Library that can be used for printing and copying - you will need to charge your u:card to use it. For further information please visit the u:print webpage.
A scanner is also available, you only need an usb memory stick to use it.
Some books and periodicals may not be copied or scanned due to preservation reasons.
