E-books

E-books are books available in digital format. These include publications that the Vienna University Library has acquired from publishers, electronic theses of the University of Vienna and items digitised by the Library. You do not require a special e-book-reader to use the e-books.

Access to licensed resources: If you are a student or employee of the University of Vienna, you can access licensed e-books by logging in with your u:account via u:access from anywhere. (Also possible by signing in to u:search.) All users can access licensed e-books at the research PCs in the Translation Studies library (no userID and password required).

The Library’s search engine u:search also includes a wide range of freely accessible e-books, which are labelled as Open Access publications.

  • New e-books: List of e-books recently acquired by the Translation Studies library.
  • E-book reserve collection: A selection of important works on translation studies available in digital format.

How to find e-books in u:search

u:search will show you all print and electronic media available at Vienna University Library. If you are looking for e-books specifically, please take the following steps:

  1. Go to u:search and search for title, author, etc.
  2. To limit your search results to e-books, use the filters “Online access” and the medium “Book”. If necessary, add the filter “Free to read (inkl. Open Access)” to display only freely accessible e-books.
