Responsibilities

The Austrian Central Library for Physics & Library of Chemistry is responsible for the comprehensive acquisition, cataloguing and provisioning of printed literature and other media for Physics, Chemistry and related subjects. Special attention is paid to hard-to-find literature (conference reports, reports, preprints, dissertations, etc.).

Moreover, the library is

• Depository Library for the USAEC / USDOE reports (United States Atomic Energy Commission / United States Department of Energy)
• Depository Library for the INIS  Microfiche Collection (International Nuclear Information System)
• Regional Information Centre for IGBP -Publications (International Geosphere Biosphere Program)

The library works in close collaboration with research institutions across Europe and with international organizations, e.g. the ESI  (Erwin Schrödinger International Institute for Mathematical Physics), the IAEA  (International Atomic Energy Agency) or the IIASA  (International Institute for Applied System Analysis).
