Using the Library

Most of the main library's books, with the exception of reference works, textbooks and frequently used literature, is stored in closed stacks that are not open to the public. This means that in order to use our books, you have to order them first. To be able to place an order, you need a library card.

Books of normal size (up to 10"; shelfmarks starting with A, I or II) and not older than 100 years can be borrowed for use outside the library or read in the large reading room.

Oversized books (shelfmarks starting with III, IV or V) and books that are more than 100 years old must be read in the special reading room for old and valuable books.

If you want to consult a large number of volumes with the same shelfmark (e.g. bound serials) directly in the stacks, it is possible to apply for a permission to enter the stacks.
