The offer is aimed at tutorials, first-semester students, introductions to scientific work, pre-study courses and similar at the University of Vienna and other universities.

Duration: approx. 30 minutes

Participants: min. 5, max. 25

Target group: Students, first-year students who wish to become acquinted with the main library.

Contents:

  • Introduction to the Vienna University Library
  • How to use the library: how to apply for a library ID, what can be borrowed, ho long is the lending period, etc.
  • Guided tour of the main library: issue desk, information, reading rooms, cloakroom, copy centre, a view of the closed stacks
  • Rules in the reading rooms
  • By request, a brief introduction to the search engine u:search can also be booked (additional 30 minutes)

School classes can book VWA on-site courses in the main library or VWA online courses. These are aimed at all general or vocational secondary schools from the 10th grade upwards whose students need literature for their pre-scientific work (VWA) or diploma thesis (DA).
