Kickstart your library research for your linguistics proseminar paper: Join the librarian online / in the library to find out how you can use resources to understand your topic assignment and to do bibliographic research to find sources in the field of linguistics.
Learning Goals
After the workshop, participants
- can name, find and use introductory resources (like handbooks)
- can name, find and use linguistics databases and u:search
- can apply appropriate research strategies to find sources
- can use simple and advanced keyword searches to find linguistics sources
- can use the linking service to locate linguistics sources from the databases
- can explain what subject terms are, find them in different resources and apply them to find linguistics sources
- can use the citations, cited by, and related sources features in Web of Science and Scopus to find linguistics sources
- are able to distinguish between different source types and use limits and/or field search to find these source types
- are aware of the different steps in the research process and can name the stage of their project
- are able to get access to library e-resources, including e-books, journals and databases
- are able to use resource features to change and manage results lists and results (limits, folders, save searches, save alerts)
- are able to adapt searches to improve the list of results (limits, changing/adding search terms)
