The use of the free hand inventory on site is possible without registration within the opening hours. Please note that from 14.09.2020 onwards it is necessary, at some locations, to reserve a seat in advance via our website due to COVID-19 restrictions. By entering the premises of the university library, you are accepting the library regulations.
At most locations the use of the cloakroom is mandatory. Please bring a valid official photo ID to receive a locker key.
All library sites have freely accessible computers that can be used to search for printed or electronic media without registering.
A large part of the holdings of the University Library is stored in closed stacks. Media from these collections can be ordered and used in the reading rooms.
Persons over the age of 14 without a library card can receive a voucher for temporary WiFi access upon presentation of a valid official photo ID. This service is currently available in the Main Library at the information desk next to the Main Reading Room.
Scanners and/or copiers are available at almost all library locations. The use of the scanners is free. (Please bring your own USB stick - no other storage media!)
Information on using the copier (copy cards, costs) as well as printing options is available on site.
You can order media (books or copies) from the Vienna University Library to the library of your home town through an interlibrary loan. Your home town library will assist you with the ordering process.
You can order copyright-free works from the holdings of the University Library as a digital copy (subject to a charge). For more information about this service, see bibliothek.univie.ac.at/eod
