Juan Bruce-Novoa will read from his novel Only the Good Times, and he has kindly agreed to talk to students about U.S. Latino/a literature.

Professor Juan Bruce-Novoa is the author of the novel Only the Good Times: An Obsessive Love Becomes the Basis for an Artist’s Career (Arte Público Press 1995) and a collection of short stories Manuscrito de Origen (1995). He has also published a book of poetry Inocencia perversa/Perverse Innocence, Poetry (1977). Juan Bruce-Novoa is Professor of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California at Irvine, and he is the author of the two critical works, which have become foundational texts in the field of Chicano Studies: Chicano Authors: Inquiry by Interview (1980) and Retrospace: Collected Essays on Chicano Literature (1990). He also was co-editor of the Heath Anthology of American Literature (2nd and 3rd editions).
